Hi Cat, can you give our readers a little tattoo history about yourself and your background?
I’ve been tattooing for roughly five years. Before tattooing I had always been a drawer/painter and went on to do art at Uni where I did glass blowing and a bunch of other subjects. After a couple years of travelling overseas I moved back home and got an apprenticeship at a local walk in studio.
As a kid, what type of stuff did you draw and what art were you inspired by?
When I was a kid I would draw a bit of everything but mostly characters from games or comics we had around the house. When I was a teenager I started getting into tattoo related art work because I watched all the season of Miami Ink on my older brothers laptop and get hooked on it from there.
Was there a particular style you picked up straight away or did you experiment a lot to find your niche. How do you describe your style and where do you feel it fits in industry?
I started off with trad tattoos. I had always loved them but while working in a walk in studio I had to try anything that came in the doors. My mentor also pushed me to get into realism. Now I like to mix the two when I can and I can get the best of both worlds.
Looking at the detail you put into your work how far you have evolved over the years as an artist and what inspires you when designing some of your work?
I’m mostly inspired by pop culture, I like my designs to have an element of fun rather then being too serious.
If you could tattoo anyone (famous or not) who would that be and what tattoo would you do for them?
It would have been cool to tattoo my pop, I’m sure if he was still around I would probably tattoo a classic trad tattoo with a realistic split.
